Dr. Brottman is one of the most enthusiastic, genuinely passionate teachers I have learned from throughout medical school. He readily accepts questions and asks students for feedback regarding speed during separate concepts throughout his lectures. I also appreciated the personal anecdotes regarding the topics covered in this course–they reinforce the concepts and cement them in our memory. Thank you for your genuine care for our futures and understanding of these topics.

This course contains valuable material that I wish I had exposure to sooner. This material is great at building a foundation when trying to think of the various business aspects of being a physician. The course inspires you to become future oriented in an area that is sometimes not discussed enough in medical education so that we can enter the working world more prepared and less afraid when navigating this side of medicine. Dr. Brottman is extremely approachable, humble, and readily shares the successes and failures in his life to help us grow as students and individuals. He includes everyone during the lectures as well. He stimulates learning without putting students on the defensive or making them fearful of ridicule.

Dr. Brottman is the most feedback-responsive instructor I have ever worked with! Because of his interactive and personal approach, this course felt less like a class and more like a personal and professional development conference. Also, many of the financial and business discussions we had in class broached topics that I would not feel comfortable asking about in other medical school settings. Not all instructors are willing to be so candid and honest about the realities of a career in medicine or their own business decisions. I also appreciated how Dr. Brottman would interject encouragements into every session, helping us realize our value as doctors while reminding us to maintain humility, integrity, and a constant willingness to learn. It was evident that Dr. Brottman's first priority in every part of the course was to equip us with tools and knowledge to help us succeed in residency and beyond.

"My decision to take Dr. Brottman's "Business of Medicine Class" was one of the best decisions that I have made in my medical school career. Not only did the class teach me basic life skills such as budgeting and business knowledge such as investing in stocks and retirement funds, but I also have a better grasp on what it takes to be a good businesswoman as a physician."

The value that this course has added to my medical education is exponential, these conversations really provoke thought about what kind of family medicine physician I want to be, as well as how I will practice. After this course, I feel more equipped to take the best care of my patients possible as well as to practice with intention to add the most value to not only my patients’ lives, but mine as well. The topics addressed in these two weeks are beautifully delivered and allow young physicians to really see the larger picture of how to best utilize our career to align with our goals and purpose in life. Moving forward, I hope to approach my career not only as a clinician, but as an intentional decision-maker and occasional overutilizer who prioritizes both patient care and the sustainability of my own professional life

My preconceived notion of the business behind medicine had been wildly different from what this course turned out to be. I was anticipating stale readings and monotone lectures about abstract ways to make money. This course was the opposite of that and challenged me to think critically about the multidisciplinary topics surrounding business and its relation to medicine. Even with my prior experience in my family business, I honestly did not know what I did not know. This course opened my eyes to what any business involves and the various knowledge and professionals that it requires. From personal finance to life lessons to the dreaded billing and coding, nothing was fluff, and everything can be used to make me a better doctor, person, family member, friend, and colleague. …Thank you for giving me the tools to be a better doctor and person.

Dr. Brottman is an amazing public speaker. As his former student, I can confidently say there was not a single dull moment when he talks. Be it a classroom or at an event, Dr. is able to keep the attention on him as he speaks. His witty comments lighten the atmosphere, interacts with the audience so they the feel more involved. But most of all, you can see the passion in his speech. He is not here to sell anything. He’s here to inform and educate those that have the desire to learn. His program gets to the core of the matter regarding medical school. The goal is not just getting into Med school and become a doctor. His goal is to helps create amazing physicians who will thrive to be the very best that they could be. Im really glad that I was able to meet Dr. Brottman. Had I met him sooner, say in my high school years, I would have been able to accomplish much greater things. But it’s better late then never.

“Dr. Brottman is a highly relatable person who has the ability to garner both the respect and the interest of teenagers.
One of the first things I noticed about him is that he is able to motivate and engage students of all backgrounds and aptitudes. He is not a person who speaks at students; he is a person who listens, questions and advises in a personal way.”

Dr. B helped me walk the pre-med path since High School and achieve the dreams I have had since freshman year.
If I can become the doctor he is- with great knowledge, understanding and patient centered care, who gives back to the community - I know I will have succeeded in life.
